Simple Tips to Save Money While Eating Out
Order two appetizers instead of an entree
Eating out doesn’t have to be a huge expense—you can cut costs by ordering appetizers instead of an entree, or even getting two appetizers instead of one entree.
For example, I like to get a flatbread pizza and a soup as my meal for two reasons: one, it’s delicious (and who doesn’t love pizza and soup?), and two, it’s cheap! I can usually get out of a restaurant for $15-$20.
Split an appetizer with your table
A great way to save money while eating out is to split an appetizer with your tablemates. You’ll typically get two or three times as much food for the price, and you’ll all be able to try a bunch of things. It’s also a good way for you and your friends to share something delicious—after all, sharing is caring!
Look for happy hour specials
Happy hour is also another great way to save some money when eating out. You can often find appetizers and drinks discounted, and sometimes even different menus with lower prices on meals and drinks. So, instead of going out to a restaurant at full price, wait until happy hour and take advantage of the savings. Plus, you’ll be able to save some cash while still enjoying yourself. To make sure you’re getting the best deal possible, check online before heading out to look for specials. You can also ask your server if there are any specials before ordering.
Drink water instead of soda or juice
Consider this: a 20 oz. soda can cost more than $2 at many restaurants, while a bottle of water is often just a dollar or less. Plus, when you order water instead of soda, you’ll consume fewer calories and won’t be spending money on ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavorings that have been linked to health problems.
